California fire brigade recalls little subtle never to park at fire hydrant

You are not allowed to park in the US for an above-ground fire hydrant. The fire brigade of Anaheim once again pointed out explicitly. The sprayers posted a photo on social media of a car whose windows they had smashed to pull the fire hose through.

The prohibition to park in front of fire hydrants in American streets – lined with a red warning line – does not apply just like that. In an emergency, the fire brigade must be able to connect the hoses quickly and that is not possible if there is a car in the way. That turned out yesterday in Anaheim, the Californian city where the world-famous Disneyland is located.

On the pictures on Facebook and Twitter, you can see how the water hose runs straight through the car over the back seat. For that, both rear windows had to be destroyed first. The accompanying text on Twitter reads: ” Ever wonder what happens when a car is parked in front of a fire hydrant and a fire breaks out? Is a closer parking spot worth the broken windows and the citation and towing fees to @AnaheimPD? @City_of_Anaheim residents, please do not park in fire lanes?”

The Anaheim fire brigade also had an answer to the question of why the fire hose could not simply go under or even over the car: “It does not fit in and the damage caused by throwing it on would probably be greater than the cost of two windows.”
