Egypt invites Elon Musk to come and see ‘alien’ pyramids

Egypt has invited Elon Musk, the American businessman and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, to view ancient structures in the country. The eccentric billionaire recently tweeted that the pyramids must have been built by aliens. Egypt reacted as if stung by a wasp.

Minister Rania al-Mashat of Investments and International Cooperation has now asked Musk to come and see for himself. “I follow your work with a lot of admiration. I invite you & Space X to explore the writings about how the pyramids were built and also to check out the tombs of the pyramid builders. Mr. Musk, we are waiting for you,” said the minister.

The world famous Giza Pyramids near Cairo are the main tourist attraction of the country. They reopened in July after a three-month shutdown due to the coronavirus. The Egyptian pyramids were built as a tomb for pharaohs.

Whether Musk was serious or not with his conspiracy tweet – most likely not – the tweet went completely viral.

That was incidentally accompanied by an avalanche of mocking and indignant reactions. Earlier, the Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass also reacted to the billionaire. He called the alien comment a “total hallucination”.
