Egypt on the alert against yellow vests

The Egyptian authorities fear a contagion of the movement of yellow vests whose sale is currently restricted.

The authorities fear that the demonstrators in Cairo imitate those in Paris who wear “yellow vests” in protest in particular against the rise in the price of fuel.

As for Egypt, traders in Cairo say they have received instructions prohibiting the sale of yellow vests to individuals.

Their sale is now limited to companies that may need it for their employees.

These restrictions came just weeks before the eighth anniversary of the January 2011 uprising, which overthrew President Hosni Mubarak’s regime following mass demonstrations.
