The 2019 edition of the African Cup of Nations (ACN) was awarded on Tuesday to Egypt, preferred to its only competitor, South Africa.
“I am pleased to announce that Egypt will host the ACN-2019”, replacing Cameroon, said Ahmad, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
He made the announcement at a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in Dakar.
Egypt has already organized the ACN four times, the last in 2006.
The “Land of the Pharaohs” has high-capacity stadiums, two major international airports and a large hotel park, which will be useful to the ACN scheduled for June and July.
