Health Alert: New clothes can be infected!

All that glitters is not gold. When you buy new clothes, you tend to wear them right away without washing them.

However, we must say that just as we tried the garment, we liked it before adopting it, others did the same. Yes, but who? What we ignore royally!

The number of people who have donned the garment before being landed in our hands is just as unknown. The clothing could be infected!

This theory, as incredible as it may be, was confirmed by Philip Tierno, a professor of microbiology and pathology at New York University. According to him, there would be many more people than one imagines, who would have tested the clothes that one would like to buy.

“We’re not just talking about four, five or six people, but dozens and more, if it’s been in the store for weeks or even months,” he says. This figure can be relative, however, depending on the size of the store, its location.

In a more in-depth study, the professor looked at clothing from major ready-to-wear chains and luxury boutiques. He found noroviruses but also bacteria such as streptococci and staphylococci, but also feces. These bacteria and viruses could be transmitted through the nose, mouth, skin, or anus.

However, the risk of having a severe infection remains very low.
