A 35-year-old man, Mr. Yinka Alabi, pleaded in a customary court in Idi-Ogungun, Agodi, Oyo State, not to dissolve his marriage when his wife confessed to having been raped by another man.
In response to a divorce suit filed by his wife, Funmilola, Alabi told the court that the woman claimed to have been raped in his office, but that he still loved her.
Yinka said, “My wife’s adulterous practices are terrible, she used to receive calls from her boyfriend in my presence, but my health makes me accept all her shortcomings.
“My lord, I’m using the catheter and my wife knows what I’m going through, I paid her before I could sleep with her, but I’m not disturbed because I love her and I do not agree with the dissolution of our 10-year marriage.”
According to NAN, his wife Funmilola, 31, had previously urged the court to grant her divorce petition, alleging constant brutality on the part of the husband.
According to her, Yinka is still wary of my involvement in extra-marital affairs.
“He has no respect for my parents, so I cannot stand his harassment and brutality anymore,” she said.
The Chief magistrate of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, urged the couple to solve the problem for the only child of the marriage and advised the respondent to find ways to come to terms with his wife since he did not want the marriage to ends.
He adjourned the case until August 31 for the settlement report or further hearing.
