Illinois rejected R. Kelly’s concert

Officials from the US state of Illinois have refused to give R. Kelly a license for his Spring Break concert in April.

The state would not have granted the permit for Kelly’s concert in Springfield for security reasons. Earlier this week there were already protests against the singer at his studio in Chicago.

Illinois Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Denise Albert told the Chicago Tribune that the application for the Spring Break Jam in April was denied Thursday because of security concerns following protests outside Kelly’s Chicago studio this week.

Robert Sylvester Kelly, as the singer is officially called, recently became discredited after the release of the documentary ‘Surviving R. Kelly’. In this, a large number of women accuse him of sexual abuse, abuse of power and sex with minors.
