In Senegal, Ladies take injections to prevent menses during Ramadan

In a few days, the Muslim faithful will celebrate the feast of Eid el-Fitr, a festival celebrated every year at the end of the month of Ramadan.

According to the Koranic writings, when a woman is “impure” she can not touch the holy book and enter the mosque. To do this, during her period of menstruation, she abstains from observing the fast. After her menstruation, she pays what is commonly called “credit” to complete her Ramadan period.

In Senegal this year, young girls used medicinal means to avoid interrupting their fasting time. Senegalese women were injected with products that dispensed their menstruation throughout the month of Ramadan.

“This parry is to inject medical products or swallow pills to avoid, if not move, their menstruation until the end of Ramadan,” reports Abidjanshow.

Thus, they were able to observe the fast with everyone and finish without having “credit” to repay after the party.
