Indonesia: bloodbath after 3 attacks on churches in Surabaya

In Indonesia, at least 9 people were killed and 40 injured on Sunday 13 May in bomb attacks.

Three attacks, including a suicide attack, targeted churches in Surabaya in eastern Java.

The three attacks were perpetrated in three different locations 10 minutes apart. The first explosion occurred at 07:30 (00:30 UT), said police in Surabaya, Indonesia’s second largest city, according to reports of RFI.

“There have been attacks on three churches,” said a spokesman for the local police, Frans Barung Mangera, adding that two policemen were among the wounded. These attacks have not been claimed yet.

At least one of the attackers who blew up their bombs at the Santa Maria Catholic Church was killed. “Four people were killed at Santa Maria Church,” police spokesman said, adding that four others had died outside.
