Iranian Grand Ayatollah Khamenei excludes war with the US

There will be no war between Iran and the United States. That has been stated by Iran’s supreme leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “Neither we nor the United States want war, that’s why it won’t happen,” Khamenei said on Iranian state television.

He also said that Iran has chosen the “path of resistance” and compared the negotiations with Washington with “poison.” Khamenei is convinced that Iran will pull the longest end. “We have the strongest willpower and the strongest (religious) faith.”

Tensions between Iran and Washington have run high. Iranian President Hassan Rohani said last week that Tehran will withdraw from

the important aspects of the 2015 nuclear deal unless major powers promise to lift sanctions against Iran.
