Italian anti-vaccination politician hospitalize for chickenpox
The Italian anti-vaccination figure and president of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Massimiliano Fedriga, ended up in the hospital with chickenpox earlier this week.
The politician of the conservative Lega Nord revealed this on Twitter, which put him on a hefty dose of scorn.
In the past, Fedriga campaigned against the Lorenzin decree, making vaccinations compulsory in 2017. Children who are not vaccinated against, for example, polio, measles, and chickenpox are therefore no longer admitted to schools. Fedriga then stated that although his own children were vaccinated, he did not want to oblige. According to him, such an obligation was not the best way to convince opponents of vaccinations.
Prominent microbiologist Roberto Burioni shared the news about Fedriga’s chickenpox on Twitter and added that this incident draws attention to the problem of adult vaccinations.
Fedriga was mocked on social media because, after his crusade against compulsory vaccinations, the anti-vaccination contracted the infectious infection that can be fatal for adults.
