Later today, the German Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer will give an update on the investigation. That press conference had already been announced for the news of the arrest. Seehofer only promised to speak about “reliable facts and not about suspicions”.

Yesterday, Seehofer met with Holger Münch, the head of the Federal Investigation Department (BKA) and Arne Schönbohm, head of the federal service for ICT security (BSI). The German Interior Minister came under fire because he had not made a public statement about the data leaks so far. Chancellor Angela Merkel, among others, was struck by this hack.
