Nigeria: Govt deports illegal migrants from Brazil, Belgium, Australia, etc

In Seme Command chapter, the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has reportedly deported more than 414 illegal immigrants in the first six months of the year.

Command spokesman Yusuf Salman told the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Seme on Wednesday that 159 Nigerians were also denied Seme’s border rights during the reporting period.

He added that 97,595 people arrived in the country by the border with valid passports and complete documents.

“From January to June 2018, 97,595 people arrived at the border with valid passports, 60,621 were men and 36,974 were women.

“In addition, 88,015 people, including 48,900 men and 39,115 women, left Nigeria across the Seme border during the period,” he said.

Mr. Yusuf also explained that 56 foreigners were denied entry permits at the border during the period.

He said foreigners came from South Africa, Belgium, Congo, Kenya, Ghana, Australia, Brazil, Lebanon, Italy and India.

He said the command received and rescued 65 victims of human trafficking.

“The suspects were arrested and handed over to the immigration headquarters for further actions,” he said.
