Over a loaf of bread, man stabs friend on the ear and eye

A customary court, Mapo in Ibadan fired a 21-year-old man identified as Kehinde Shittu for allegedly stabbing his friend Juwon Onolaja in the eyeball with a broken bottle because of N70 bread.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant Ayodele Ayeni told the court that the defendant stabbed his friend after a small disagreement about bread.

Ayeni said, “The two friends were arguing.

“Before the plaintiff knew, the defendant had broken a bottle and used it to stab his left eye.

“The defendant also inflicted serious injuries on the applicant’s back and ear.”

According to the prosecutor, the crime contravened articles 249 (D) and 335 of the Criminal Code of the State of Oyo, 2000.

The defendant facing an assault charge, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The President of the Court, Mrs. Imoleayo Akinrodoye, in her decision, granted the Defendant a bonus of N100,000 with two security guarantees in an equivalent amount.

The case has been postponed until September 28 to be mentioned.
