Uganda: Ex-minister lost election and destroy 10 boreholes

Patrick Okumu-Ringa, who lost the recent parliamentary elections in Nebbi municipality in Uganda, decided to destroy all the boreholes he had built and that had been providing water for the last twenty years.

Okumu-Ringa, which would own huge state property in the municipality, had about 10 boreholes in different neighborhood.

The former Minister of State for the Public Service accused local residents of abusing his generosity by not supporting his candidacy for the position of MP.

The process of dismantling drilling began on Monday and ended Wednesday, three days after the announcement of the election results.

For nearly 10 years, Okumu-Ringa was Padyere County MP, but lost to David Ringecan in 2006.

Since then, he has tried to return in vain. In the NRM primaries, Okumu-Ringa lost to new entrant Suleiman Hashim.

However, he also decided to run as an independent candidate, claiming that his defeat in the primaries was the result of a trick.

But the luck fell out from him and he decided to dismantle the boreholes.
