Uganda ready to welcome migrants expelled from Israel under certain conditions

Eritrean and Sudanese migrants in Israeli territory are still not fixed on their fate. If they were released last Sunday on the orders of the Israeli Supreme Court, these undocumented migrants are still waiting to be regularized or transferred to a third country.

But according to Amnesty International, the agreement between the Jewish state and Uganda concerning the reception of 500 migrants has failed.

However, on the side of the Ugandan authorities, it delays. This project remains current, but under certain conditions.

“Israel has asked Uganda to investigate the possibility of hosting Eritrean and Sudanese migrants on its soil. We are studying the modalities of this reception and we will ensure that these migrants are welcomed with dignity,” Musa Ecweru, Ugandan Minister for Disaster and Refugee Prevention stated.
