WHO warns: “Corona crisis can get worse and worse and worse”

The coronary pandemic, which is an ugly household worldwide, will only get worse if countries fail to adhere to strict precautions. This is what the World Health Organization (WHO) warns against today.

“Let me be clear: too many countries are going in the wrong direction. The virus remains number one public enemy,” said WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus today during a virtual briefing from WHO headquarters in Geneva. “If the basic rules are not followed, there is only one direction for this pandemic: to get worse and worse and worse.”

Worldwide, some 13 million coronavirus infections have already been recorded. More than half a million people did not survive the disease. Tedros reported that half of the 230,000 new cases registered on Sunday came from the US and Brazil.

According to Mike Ryan, director of the WHO Health Emergency Program, it may be advisable for some regions of the Americas to introduce “limited or geographically targeted lockdowns”. These are intended to prevent infections in areas where “the spread is completely out of control”.

Tedros also announced that the WHO has still not been officially notified of the American withdrawal from the organization announced by President Trump last week.
