During the heatwave, coffee consumption should be limited so as not to harm the body, explained immunologist and therapist Irina Iartseva, interviewed by Sputnik.

Having a cup of coffee is a habit for many people, but drinking large amounts of coffee can damage the body, which is especially dangerous in hot weather, she stressed.

Drink more water

The main effect of coffee, hot or cold, is to accelerate the evacuation of liquids, which during a heatwave can cause dehydration. That’s why it’s essential to drink a glass of water before or after.

If a person is doing physical activity at the same time, limit the amount of coffee and drink more water.

Why it’s dangerous to drink coffee during a heatwave

In the case of illnesses such as urinary lithiasis, kidney damage due to poor filtration, it is not advisable to drink more than one cup a day, according to the specialist.

In general, no more than three cups should be drunk daily.
