A woman who tried to take pictures of a waterfall at Lake Tahoe, in California, slipped and fell down 45 meters. Erin Holland of the fire protection service in Tahoe has announced this.
The woman did not survive her fall in the icy water.
According to Holland, the water is extremely cold and dangerous at this time of year due to the melting snow in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains.
Witnesses saw how the woman had parked her car on the side of the highway to view the Eagle Falls up close and to take a picture. In addition, she would have stood too close to the edge and slipped. There is no guard rail or fence in that part of the park.
One and a half hours later, a rescue team managed to salvage the body at Emerald Bay. According to Holland, the death of the woman is “a sad warning” to be extra careful when taking photos or selfies in nature reserves.
The identity of the woman has not yet been announced. It was about a woman in her early 20s.
