Katsina state police arrested an 18-year-old girl, Zinatu Abubakar, in the photo above, for allegedly drugging a man in an attempt to steal his motorcycle.
According to the police, Zinatu persuaded the man to chew a chocolate bar, which left the victim unconscious.
Police said the suspect, who lives in Hayin Danmani Quarters, Kaduna state, was a member of a trade union that specialized in deception.
The spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, told reporters in Katsina on Thursday that Zinatu was arrested on Wednesday and that she is being questioned.
He said: “On August 29, at 10 am, the commando was able to arrest a woman member of a group of motorcycle thieves notoriously specialized in cyclists of deceit, offering them poisoned chocolates.
“Nemesis met a Zinatu Abubakar, 18 from the Hayin Danmani district of Kaduna years ago, when she hit a motorcycle driven by commercial Gide Wada, 25, from the town of Yaghaka, LGA Katsina. Rooms Sokoto Rima, Katsina County.
According to Isah, Zinatu offered a chocolate bar to the motorcyclist who, taking it, fell off the motorcycle and became unconscious.
“With the good efforts of good nearby Samaritans who witnessed the incident, he said the suspect, Zinatu Abubakar, was arrested when her cohorts, an Abubakar and his chairman escaped.
“The suspect confessed to using the same Kaduna and Kano mode of operation and stealing innocent cyclists from their motorcycles, the effort is at the highest level to arrest other members of the union,” said the police spokesman.
