‘Girl’ has three nominations for European Film Awards

‘Girl, the Flemish feature debut by Lukas Dhont, has been nominated for the European Film Award for ‘best film’. In addition, leading actor Victor Polster has a chance of winning the prize for ‘best acting performance’. That is what the European Film Academy just reports.

In total, Girl now has the chance to win three European Film Awards. Because it has already been reported that the film will also participate in the European Discovery Award. The prize for feature debut.

On 15 December we will know whether Lukas Dhont’s successful film can also cash in on the nominations. ‘Girl’ will record for the European Film Award for ‘best film’ against. ‘Grans’ by Ali Abbasi, ‘Cold War’ by Pawel Pawlikowski, ‘Dogman’ by Matteo Garrone and ‘Lazzaro Felice’ by Alice Rohrwacher.

‘Girl’, on entry for the Oscars, is only the second Flemish film to be nominated in that category. Only ‘The Broken Circle Breakdown’ did it to them in 2013. Victor Polster is the second youngest actor ever to receive a nomination for the Best Actor Award.

The youngest was Jamie Bell when he was nominated in 2000 for his role in ‘Billy Elliot’. After Jan Decleir (‘Daens’, 1993) and Johan Heldenbergh (‘The Broken Circle Breakdown’, 2013) Polster is the third Flemish actor to be nominated.
