Japanese thief steals nearly 6 thousand bicycle saddles “against stress”

A Japanese truck driver (57) has spent 25 years stealing bicycle saddles. “At the beginning against the stress,” the thief told police according to Japanese media. “Gradually it became a hobby.”

The police tracked the man down when security cameras captured him in November while he stole two saddles worth about 70 dollars at bicycle parking facilities in Higashiosaka, near the city of Osaka.

At his arrest on February 13, he admitted that he had been stealing bicycle saddles for years.

The man even rented a storage facility where he kept his 5,800 bicycle saddles.

“I started in Tokyo and Osaka about 25 years ago,” the man said. “First to relax because of stress at work. Gradually, collecting also turned out to be fun.”

The fifties had even rented a storage room in which he stored nearly 6,000 bicycle saddles.
